Back in college, when I first sat down and started writing as a full-time hobby, I heard the helpful hint to simply "finish." That is, don't overthink it or get bogged down in the details. Just think of a story and write it. Grammatical errors or slip-ups can be adjusted later. The most important thing for a writer to do, at least initially, is to get the story done.
That being said, I quickly realized that I was a few steps away from completing a full-length novel. So, in true baby step fashion, I decided to focus on some short stories at first. Get a ten-pager done and go from there, ya know?
The first result of this writing exercise is found in the images below.
It's a short story about a mysterious creature in Montana, known as the Wooly Goat, and the mythology that surrounds it in a small, blue-collar town.
I hope you enjoy one of my first completed works!
